How to Iron a Picture on a Pillow
Creating personalized throw pillows using photography is as easy as clicking print on your computer, almost. Family pictures, and other decorative photography, can be ironed on lightly-shaded pillows by printing the image onto iron-on transfer paper. By ironing pictures on pillows, you can accent a room's theme and decor, allowing you to implement ideas such as: sports-themed pillows for the game room, or boys bedrooms, nature photography, complementing the den, as well as rock-n-roll images for the music area. - Photograph
- Iron-on transfer sheets
- Iron

Scan the photo to your computer. Place the image on your scanner/printer, and download the image to your computer, saving it into your pictures file.

Open the picture on your computer by clicking on the image in your pictures file. Once open, you can enlarge or decrease the size of the picture using the enlarging tool found on the toolbar. When re-sizing the image, remember the iron-on transfers are 8 1/2 by 11 inches. Save the re-sized image on your computer.

Load iron-on transfer paper into the printer.

Print the image onto the transfer paper. Before printing, make sure the "flip," "mirror," or "reverse function on the computer application. Load one page of transfer paper, making sure to check which side faces up on the manufacturer's instructions. Set the printer to the appropriate paper paper setting, most printers have "transfers," or "special coated paper" settings. When the paper and printer are set-up, click print on your computer. After the transfer prints, allow it to cool, then cut the excess transfer paper surrounding the image with a pair of scissors.

Warm the iron to the temperature recommended by the transfer manufacturer: Different transfer brands may require different temperatures. When the iron is warmed up, center the iron-on transfer to the pillow, then iron the transfer, working from the center to the outside of the picture.

Allow the pillow to set before using. To be safe, do not touch the iron-on area for at least a half-hour.

Tips & Warnings
When purchasing iron-on transfer paper, make sure it is compatible with your printer model. Many transfer papers work best with inkjet printers.
