How to Stitch With GIMP
Stitching with a graphics program is the act of connecting two or more images together using a photo-editing application, usually for the purpose of creating panoramic images. You can stitch photographs together in GIMP via a photo-stitching plugin, which is a script that automatically connects the two images together into a single photograph. Once stitched, you can then save the images as a single panorama.

1
Download Pandora, a stitch plugin for GIMP, from shallowsky.com.
-
2
Click "Start," then "Computer." Click the "C" drive and "Program Files," then select "GIMP" and "gimp" -- the latter is all lowercase. Copy the download Pandora plugin into the "scripts" folder. Close the Window.
-
-
3
Launch GIMP by clicking its icon. Select "Filters," then "Script-Fu." Click "Refresh." The scripts are refreshed and the new one is added to the menu.
-
4
Click "File," then "Open as Layers." Press and hold the "Ctrl" button, then select each photograph you want to stitch. Release "Ctrl" and press "Enter." Each photograph is opened as a layer. Select the "Background" layer, then click the trash can icon to delete it.
-
5
Select "Filters," then "Combine." Choose "Make Panorama." An options box appears. Look at the layers. If the top layer belongs on the right side of the panorama, check the box next to "Top Layer on Right"; otherwise, leave the box unchecked. Select the desired overlap percentage. For example, choose "10%" if you want 10 percent of the images to overlap. Click "OK."
-
6
Click the "Move" tool in the toolbar. Reposition the layers so that they match as closely as possible. You can hide some of the layers to make this easier by clicking the "Hide" button on the Layers window. You can also make a layer see-through by sliding the "Opacity" slider. Line the layers up so they match seamlessly.
-
7
Click the "Paintbrush" tool. Select a layer mask on a layer in the Layers window. A seam between the two images becomes visible. Click the "Color Palette" and choose "Black." Paint over the seam in areas where the two images don't match. This erases parts of the top layer, revealing the bottom and allowing you to further tweak the image.

8
Press "Ctrl" and "S" on your keyboard. Enter a file name and choose a save location. Choose a format, such as "JPG." Click "Save" to save the image to your hard drive.
