How to Play iTunes in Traktor

How to Play iTunes in Traktor thumbnail
iTunes features advanced tagging options that can help you sort your music collection.

The Traktor digital DJing software is fully integrated with Apple's iTunes media player. When you install Traktor, the program automatically scans your iTunes library for music. This feature allows you to browse your music collection without importing the entire collection into Traktor; you can also use iTunes to tag your music and create playlists, and then import the tags and playlists into Traktor. If you play several different genres of music in your DJ sets, for example, you can use iTunes to quickly sort all of your songs by genre. Access iTunes songs in Traktor using the program's browser window.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Traktor. Click the + symbol on the iTunes icon in the lower left corner of the Traktor window to expand your iTunes library.

    • 2

Click the "Library" icon. Scroll to the song that you want to play in Traktor.

    • 3

Drag and drop the song from the browser window onto deck "A." Traktor automatically moves a copy of the song from the iTunes library into the Traktor database.

    • 4

Click the "Play" button on deck A to listen to the track.

Tips & Warnings

  • To import an iTunes playlist into Traktor, drag and drop the iTunes playlist's icon into the "Playlists" section of the Traktor browser. Type in a name for the playlist and click "OK."

  • Traktor only looks for your iTunes library in the default location. If you've moved the library, specify the new location in the File Management section of Traktor's preferences.
