Things You'll Need

  • Rubber gloves

  • Mask

  • Toilet brush

  • Bucket

  • Wrench

  • Plumbing snake

  • Phillips screwdriver

  • Towels

A Saniflo system can be connected to most toilets.

Saniflo systems allow you to install a toilet in any room of any building where there is access to a waste disposal pipe. A macerator grinds solid waste into small enough particles that it can travel through your other waste pipes. Because of this, if you get a clog or blockage in your Saniflo, you cannot simply plunge the toilet to unblock it or you may damage the macerator. Instead, take apart the system and manually clean it.

Step 4

Bail out as much of the water in the toilet tank as you can.

Place a bucket underneath the pipe running from the top of the Saniflo. Loosen the pipes with a wrench, allowing the residual water to drain into the bucket.

Remove the pipes after they have drained completely. Clear any blockage from the inside of the pipe using warm water or a plumbing snake.

Step 7

Unscrew the screws at the base of the Saniflo. Pinch the two ends of the metal clip on the connector between the Saniflo and the toilet to loosen it.

Step 10

Clear blockage from the hole in the Saniflo unit where waste enters the macerator. Flush with warm water.

Step 11

Reassemble the Saniflo unit and pipes. Turn the water flow back on and plug the power source back in. Wait until the toilet tank fills with water before attempting to flush.

Warning

Disassembling the Saniflo will void your warranty. If the unit is still under warranty and you are unsure about undertaking this process yourself, contact a Saniflo repair specialist.
