How to Restring the Weed Eater TE40

Save

The Weed Eater TE 40 is fed by a spool of 0.065-inch line. When it's time for new trimmer line, you can either replace the entire spool or fill the spool with 30 feet of new line. Trimmer line is available at most home improvement and hardware stores. New line is necessary to maintain the quality and evenness of the cut of the Weed Eater TE 40. The replacement process is fairly simple.

Things You'll Need

  • 30 ft. 0.065-inch monofilament line
  • Replacement spool
  • Scissors

Replacing the Spool

Unplug the Weed Eater TE40. Pull the tap button and remove the spool.

Clean the area under the spool to remove any yard waste or build up.

Insert a new spool of monofilament line and push in the tap button. Plug the Weed Eater TE40 into a power source and test the operation.

Replacing the Line

Unplug the Weed Eater TE40. Pull the tap button and remove the spool.

Cut 30 feet of line with a scissors. Insert 1/2 an inch of line into the small slot inside the spool. Slowly and firmly wind the line onto the spool in the direction of the arrow on the spool. Insert the line into the notch and then through the exit hole of the hub, leaving 5 to 7 inches of line on the outside of the spool.

Push the spool into the hub until the spool locks into place. Pull the line and release it from the notch. Plug the Weed Eater TE40 into a power source and test.
