The Nikken company produces a variety of products for the body and home that are designed to be environmentally friendly, as well as aid in comfort. Nikken Kenko comforters are manufactured using a technology that distributes heat evenly, thus regulating temperature as you sleep. They also contain magnets to release negative ions which the company claims improves sleep. The comforters are available in the full size varieties, as well as a travel size version.

Machine Washing

Step 1

Set a washing machine to the delicate cycle and fill it with cold water. Add the amount of mild laundry detergent as directed on the back of the bottle.

Place the comforter into the washer and allow the washer to run for the full cycle.

Step 3

Remove the comforter from the washer and lay it flat in an area with good air circulation until it is completely dry.

Hand Washing

Step 1

Fill a bathtub with enough cold water so that the comforter will be submerged. Add the same amount of laundry detergent to the tub as you would for a large washer load.

Step 2

Place the comforter into the tub and press it down to submerge it in the water.

Step 3

Use your hands to rub the fabric, concentrating on any stained areas.

Step 4

Drain the tub of all of the water and refill it with clean water. You can leave the comforter in the tub while you drain and refill it.

Step 5

Rinse the comforter in the clean water to remove the soap residue and then drain the tub again.

Step 6

Squeeze the comforter gently to remove as much water as possible, but do not wring it out.

Step 7

Lay the comforter flat to air dry.
