Origami is a paper- folding craft that originated in Japan. It involves everything from simple projects that take seconds to complicated projects that use multiple pieces of paper and involve hundreds of folds. Creating an origami cylinder lies on the easier end of this craft. You don't need a lot of knowledge or experience in origami to complete this project. Some of the folds aren't even strictly used in just origami.

Things You'll Need

  • Paper, square or rectangle
  • Glue

Lay the paper on a flat surface. If using a rectangular piece of paper, lay it so that the long ends of the paper are horizontal in relation to you.

Fold the bottom edge of the paper upward. The fold should be approximately 1/4 inch wide.

Fold under the top of the paper. This fold should also be approximately 1/4 inch wide.

Alternate Steps 3 and 4, repetitively, until the entire paper is accordion folded.

Spread a bead of glue along the bottom of the bottom fold and the top of the top fold.

Bring together the top and bottom folds of the paper so their glued edges touch. Press together the glued edges so they adhere to one another to create a cylinder.
