Homemade Solution for Removing Dandruff

Dandruff is often seen on dark-colored clothing and on your shoulders, and is particularly unsightly on the hair and scalp. This is especially embarrassing if you are attending a social event or business event. Getting rid of dandruff is easily handled with homemade solutions and remedies. These treatments may take a week or so, depending on the remedy, to completely eliminate your dandruff. But they are safe and effective.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is a good homemade remedy for dandruff. Add 3 drops of olive oil to the palm of your hand, rub your hands together and gently massage the scalp with your oil covered fingers. Remove the olive oil from your scalp and hair by shampooing the hair as usual.

Pour a teaspoon of regular table salt into your hand and massage it into your dry hair and scalp. Shampoo hair as usual after using the salt treatment.

Salt also works well for treating dandruff when mixed with warm water. Add 3 teaspoons to a cup of warm water. Rinse your hair with this solution, and massage into the scalp, rinsing the hair afterward until all of the salt mixture is gone.

Apple Cider Vinegar

To a cup of water add 1/4 cup of regular apple cider vinegar and pour this solution onto your hair and scalp.Follow this with a scalp massage. Leave the vinegar solution in your hair while you shower, rinsing it out right before you are ready to get out of the shower. Repeat the apple cider vinegar treatment, daily, for a week to fully eliminate the dandruff.

Crush two aspirin tablets into a fine powder by pressing on the tablets with the back of a spoon. Add the crushed aspirin to a bottle of shampoo. When washing your hair, leave the aspirin-infused lather in the hair for 20 minutes, then rinse. Follow up with a moisturizing shampoo, such as one that contains olive oil. Olive oil shampoos can be purchased at supermarkets.
