When planning a trip to New York City, it is easy to get enveloped in the sights and sounds of the city and become quickly overwhelmed. Moreover, trying to determine how to travel to New York City can be daunting. However, the city is easily navigated and one's arrival can be simply arranged with a bit of effort.

    By Plane

  1. For anyone residing outside of New York state, an easy way to visit New York City is by airplane. The Big Apple is accessible by two New York airports and a nearby New Jersey airport. LaGuardia and Kennedy International airports offer easy access to ground travel options. Kennedy has access to the Long Island railroad and subway lines. In New Jersey, Newark International Airport offers an alternative, but you would have to make arrangements for ground transportation into New York City.
  2. By Train

  3. From the south, west and north, New York City is accessible by train. Train service operated by Amtrak will take you directly into the city to Penn Station or the Grand Central Terminal. Grand Central Terminal services all points north of the city, while Penn Station handles travelers from the south and west. Once at either terminal, there are connections to the subway, taxi and bus stands, and private car services.
  4. By Bus

  5. Greyhound and Peter Pan bus services travel throughout the country and can be booked into New York City. In addition, there are local bus services in many cities that may offer a good deal. The New York City bus depot is at the Port Authority and from there, it is easy to hop on a subway, get a taxi or take another bus, if necessary.
