Scrapbooking is a popular hobby. It allows people of all ages to create pages that are fun and meaningful, using photos and mementos as contents. Even teenagers will be fascinated with the thought of making their own creative memory pages. Scrapbooking not only allows them to organize their photos but gives them a creative outlet for their imaginations.

One of the most important days of a teenager's life is her first day of high school. It's a rite of passage we've all taken. It can also be one of the scariest days. Have your teen create a "first day" scrapbook page. She can take a camera along and capture whatever makes that day special for her. She can then create a page that reflects those first impressions, her first thoughts at seeing the new school, or the first time she sat next to that good-looking boy. Include the school colors on the page as well or even her first class schedule.

A "Best Friend Forever" page can evoke memories of the good times.
Best Friends Forever or "BFF" has become the expression for the current teen generation. With the advent of text messaging, this form of shorthand is a language all its own. Have your teen create a BFF book of her very best friend. If it's someone she's known for years, find some pictures of the two of them when they were young. Your teen can create duplicate pages that the two friends can share. Encourage them to include stories of the adventures they had together, as well as favorite song titles, books or phrases that mean a lot to them.

Have your teen create a "me" page all about her.
Face it--that's the teen anthem. Give teens a chance to express their very "me-ness" by creating scrapbook pages. They can use the pages to highlight their thoughts, ideas, dreams and feelings, much like a pictorial diary. They can include pictures of themselves or places they want to go, poems that mean something to them or just ideas they have. Remember, there is no right or wrong to this page.... it's all about "ME."
  6. Favorite things and people

  7. Favorite pages can be about family or friends.
Favorite pages can be about family or friends.
Growing up means changing--changing the ideas you have, the things you like and the people you are most influenced by. Have your teen create "favorite" pages. He can include his favorite person or family member or his favorite thing to do. The pages can include pictures of his pets, friends, food, books, poems, favorite rock star or a grandparent. It doesn't matter what or whom the page is about, just that it is one of the teen's favorite things at this age. What fun he will have looking back at these books and laughing at how young he was when he created it.
