If you (or your daughter) have just received your very own American Girl doll, you're probably feeling very excited to have her. However, you may be trying to decide what kinds of fun games and activities the two of you can enjoy together. While you and your doll can have any sort of fun together that you can imagine, there are a few good ways to get the most out of the special kind of fun and learning that comes with an American Girl Doll.

    Read the Books

  1. One of the best things to do with your American Girl doll is to read her books. Read them silently together or read the books aloud to your doll and show her the pictures. This will teach you about who she is and what kind of world she comes from, as well as give you ideas for what kinds of pretend adventures you can have with your doll.
  2. History

  3. Once you have finished reading the books about your American Girl doll, you can learn more together about the period in American history that she lived. Go to your local public or school library for some history books to help you learn about what life was like during your doll's time and what sorts of events were happening during her life. Ask the librarian for children's history books like the "Children's Encyclopedia Of American History."
  4. Cook and Eat

  5. If you have an adult who can help you in the kitchen, you and your American Girl doll can cook and enjoy some of the same foods that she ate in her books. This could include sweet potato pudding (like Addy ate) or St. Lucia buns like the ones Kristen's family enjoyed at Christmas time. If you have food accessories with your doll, you could also prepare a lunch like the one she has.
  6. Scrapbook

  7. Whatever adventures you have with your doll, you can include them in a scrapbook with diary entries, photos and pictures you draw yourself. Detail the things you do with your doll and the things you hope to be able to do, as well as the adventures you have in your imagination.
