Chicken parmigiana, sometimes referred to as chicken parmigiano, consists of a breaded chicken cutlet baked with parmesan or mozzarella cheese and served with pasta and a red napoli tomato sauce. It is grilled or baked until the cheese is browned. Green bell peppers are often included. Popular as a main dish for dinner, chicken parmigiana is also popular in sandwich form in the United States. In England, a fast food variation called Parmo features egg and breadcrumb batter covered with béchamel sauce and cheddar cheese. In Australia, chicken parmigiana is a popular meal at pubs.
