"Hi there my name is Lisa. I'm here from World of Gymnastics in Woodstock, Georgia. We coach gymnastics. We also have cheerleading here at our campus and then there's swimming across the street so we have a family feel in our campus. Now I'm going to talk to you about how to become a certified gymnastics instructor. Believe it or not there are no laws governing how to coach gymnastics so anybody can walk off the street and become a gymnastics instructor. You want to make sure that the gym that you're at has those rules in place. Here at World of Gymnastics we require that all instructors go through a background check required by USA Gymnastics. They have to obtain a membership through USA Gymnastics. They will pay a fee and then they will get a background check as well as we do a safety certification course through USA Gymnastics. They actually have to attend a class and then take a test at the end of that class. If they pass the class they get a certification. We also here do require that our instructors have First Aid and CPR. That way if there is any emergencies on the floor because gymnastics is one of those high risk sports, they'll know how to handle those. We also do in-house training here. So we require that our instructors shadow or follow lead instructors for a time period in order for them to feel comfortable with teaching classes. So they have to not only know gymnastics technique but they also have to know how to instruct children. So we have different instructors that are suited for different ages. So once again there is no laws governing how to teach gymnastics. We just here at World of Gymnastics require a little bit more. So you want to check to make sure that your gym is going to require the same thing."
