"Today we're going to talk about how to prevent shoe odor, and what is one of the largest offenders of having shoe odor are people who wear shoes with no socks. So if you would always wear socks with your shoes it's very helpful, and the type of socks that you choose to wear is also very helpful. You can purchase socks that actually have on the packaging, they'll state that they're antimicrobial, they've been treated at the plant with an antimicrobial liquid and then it's actually put at a very high temperature and it's infused into the material, so it's very helpful to choose a sock that has antimicrobial properties. It's also very helpful to, especially if you are a person who is working out at the gym, if you're a runner, you do aerobics and you wear athletic shoes, to purchase at least two pair of those athletic shoes because what you want to do is rotate those shoes each time you go to work out, wear the pair that you did not wear the last time. And in between each time that you wear those shoes it's also important to spray them or powder them with a commercial product that's made specifically for prevention of athletes foot and other types of infections and fungus that you can get in your shoes. This is what's actually creating the odor that we try to stay away from, so to prevent that then you also want to prevent that fungus and that bacteria. Another thing that is helpful is to use an antibacterial lotion on your feet, and you should bathe your feet daily. Some people need to bathe them twice a day. Some people are prone to having athletes foot, and if you are one of those people you will know that so it's important to wash your feet twice a day, and to make sure that you're using a lotion because the acid mantle on your skin which is a protective coating of your skin can be washed away when you do wash your feet. So if you're not replenishing that protective coating on your skin it is more open to bacteria and athletic foot infections. Another thing that you can do to prevent the odor is when you are having your feet taken care of, have a professional do it. Go in at least every four to five weeks and have a professional pedicure. This is going to be really helpful because when a nail technician does a pedicure for you they're going to remove any kind of debris from underneath the free edge of your toenails, they're going to exfoliate excess skin which may be containing bacteria, and in turn you're going to end up with a lot healthier foot. So these are the greatest tips that I can give you."
