"Adobe PhotoShoppe is a registered trademark with Adobe Systems Incorporated. I am in no way affiliated with Adobe. Hi, I'm Steve Anthony. I'm a photographer and digital retouching artist here in New York City. In this clip, we're going to talk about how to use PhotoShoppe brushes in GIMP. If you're not familiar with GIMP, it is a free downloadable program. Very powerful. A lot of people like to use it because it's free and so powerful. So if you haven't tried GIMP, I encourage you to try it. If you have, you know what I'm talking about. Here we have an instance of GIMP that's been open. The first thing you need to do is to determine where your GIMP brushes are kept. So we need to go into preferences and folders; let's take a look. And under folders you should find brushes and it says, in this case, it's under, share GIMP, 2.0 brushes. Okay, so wherever that happens to be for you. You're going to take any ABR file, which is a brushes file that you can download. And there's many, many available on the Internet. You'll find some wonderful brushes. In this case, there's one called SS paisley. I'm going to copy that and then I'm going to navigate over to the folder that GIMP is in. Okay. The GIMP brushes in my particular case are in the GIMP 2.0, share GIMP, 2.0 brushes. Simply copy and paste that ABR file into the brushes folder. Follow your on screen instructions for your version of Windows or if you're a Mac user, you'll know how to do that. Now those brushes have been imported in to GIMP; those PhotoShoppe brushes. So now let's take a look at them. We'll open up the brushes window and I don't see them there. So that means I have to refresh the window. So I go to the brushes dialog box. There the refresh button. I push that and I see that I got a whole bunch of new brushes. All these paisley brushes that I just imported. And now you can use them just like any other brushes in GIMP. It's as simple as that. This is Steve Anthony and this has been how to use PhotoShoppe brushes in GIMP."
