"All origami begins with several simple bases that have been around since the art of origami folding. And my name is Robert Segundo and today I'm going to teach you how to do the diamond base. If you start with a square piece of paper, what you're going to do is you're going to take and you're going to basically fold it like so. Now each fold in origami has a name, and there's really two folds you can only begin with. And you get down to very, very basics. It's this one which is called your cheek fold. When you open it up, what we're going to do is we're going to go into another basic fold, just called your kite base, where you just take your center pieces. And if you get better paper than this construction paper, seems to tear on you. I buy construction paper because what I do is I regauge it so I can fold more complex stuff. By regauging I'm talking about buying methylcellulose and actually just applying it to the paper and letting it dry. Do several coats of it until the paper is actually a lot thicker. There you go. This is your simple kite base. Now from here to go into your diamond base what you're going to do is you're just going to take and fold these bottom edges into it like so. And basically that is it. Two simple bases to get to your other base which is your diamond base. Play around with it, have fun and enjoy your origami."
