"Joel Hickerson from grindog.com. We are going to draw a very simple lion. We are going to start by turning our sketch pad out to the side because a lion is longer than he is tall and we will start by drawing the body of the lion to kind of give positioning on the paper so the body would be along the ellipse, elliptical shape. Now the head we are going to draw the male lion and the head is going to be a bigger circle to represent the main head of of our lion. Then we are going to draw another circle inside the mane that will be the face of our lion. A lion has four legs, one, two at the front and one, two at the back and a tail, which could be a little circle with a little tuft at the end. Now we will get into the detailed elements like the ears could be triangles on each side of the face, there could be a triangle for the nose, four circles, two circles on each side of our triangle at the bottom and two circles at the top. Now we come back and we give our lion some eyeballs. Give it some ellipse for feet, picking up his legs a little bit. Now what we have drawn now are called the construction elements which are more guidelines than finished art so when we get our marker now we can choose to deviate from our guidelines and we'll start with the nose and remember I'm using these guidelines kind of loosely. So I can leave the lines if I want. Let me draw the muzzle of our lion and we draw the eyes, a circle and you can actually add eyebrows and finish the circle of our lion's face. The triangles are into the mane where the ears are coming out. The May itself you can always do a solid line or you can break it up and make it a little bit more like air. I'm going to choose a solid. Then we do the body as it comes around and connects to the tail. The tail can be any configuration you want. If you want to make it with more curves. Now the legs one of the front is going to be behind the body and behind the second leg so it goes behind the circle and the second leg goes. The tail can be in any configuration that you want . If you want to make it more curves. Now the legs, one of the front is going to be behind the body, in behind the second leg so it goes behind the circle. The second leg goes around the circle. The third leg is behind the circle of the body and the fourth leg is in front. There is our basic lion and now we come back with our eraser and we erase our construction lines so that we can see what we have. At this time once we get the construction lines out of the way we can look back at our line and determine what we. Add maybe make the bottom of him look a thicker along that line and gravity tine while I was checking the partner. Maybe put him on the Savannah land with some grass. That's how you draw a very simple lion."
