"So you're thinking about doing a colon cleanse and you want to understand it a little bit better. My name is Mark Brinson, Doctor of Oriental Medicine, Physical Medicine and a Human Performance specialist. When people come into my office with different types of disease, particularly if we're taking about skin disorders or allergies or something odd that's going in the body, one of the things that I always take a look at, and really ask them questions about, is how their digestive system works and particularly how they're eliminating. You should be having a bowel movement approximately once a day or maybe even or more. If you're going you're going longer than that, it's a problem that needs to be corrected and a good start is with a colon cleanse. Whether you're doing this by a detoxification cleanse regimen that you can get from a health food store that just involves oral ingestion of product, or whether you're doing it with foods. You could also be doing it through enema, something called a Colema or through colonics with a health professional. Any of these is going to help do several things. The first that they're trying to do is cleanse the colon, the large intestine, of any debris that it has that's built up over the years from the person that suffered from constipation. So, as it's starting to gently scrape, or kind of clear this area, its also going to help to increase intestinal motility, which means the natural contractile quality of the intestines. So the combination of increasing the movement that's going on in the intestine, plus increasing the scraping that's going on, will help to move all of this material out of you making for a much cleaner, healthier and a colon that can absorb a whole lot more from the food and the nutrients that you need to get into your system. That's understanding a colon cleanse. My name is Mark Brinson, Doctor of Oriental Medicine, specialist in Human Performance and Physical Medicine. Hope you have a great day."
