Summary: The MIDI tracks in Pro Tools allow for extra tracks to add more instruments. Find out how to use the MIDI editing interface of Pro Tools with the tips in this free video on music recording software from a professional musician.
"When recording midi data the first thing you got to do is open a midi track. So what I'm going to have you do is, go first to file, and make a brand new track. When you make the new track, make sure it's in midi track, and make sure you also have an auxiliary track to accept your instrument coming in. Just because it's a midi track, it'll just record the data, it won't actually give you any sound. So what happens is, when something plays out of this, it's actually going out of your computer, and out of your interface, and into your keyboard, module, or MPC, whatever it might be. But you got to make sure you got an auxiliary track to accept the signal coming back in. So when I play this, it's not playing from the midi track, it's actually controlling the triton to play those sounds back into the program. So make sure that you have the track output set to whatever the input is on the keyboard, and the output of your keyboard on the input of your midi track. And just make sure the auxiliary track has the inputs of your keyboard."
