"After we've put that first coat on, which is basically a seal coat, we're going to apply another coat and this one we'll put on with the lathe running. So, we'll apply it to a rag here, turn the lathe on and the finish will start to build up now. You'll see that a shine starts to take place. Since the finish dries so quickly, quite often you'll get streaks. We'll turn it off here and see if we see any streaking and there is a little bit right through there and so and also right here. So what I'll do next then is take some steel wool and remove the streaks. Now, the steel wool will not only take off the streaks, but it will also cut down the finish so that it's not so glossy, which I actually prefer. So when we get done with the steel wool, if the finish is even, we'll be done with the finishing on the outside of this. You're going to find a dry spot on the cloth here, working any excess finish out of those little grooves. And that looks pretty good. The last thing we'll do again, is with the lathe stopped, we'll just hit it lightly with the grain to take off any cross grain scratches. This is full rot steel wool so it's very fine."
