"Trimming nails can sometimes be a challenge in cats. If your cat is not cooperative about having its nails trimmed, one of the things you can do is just trim a few nails at a time. At a time when your cat is relaxed and happy. If your cat has just been excited and playing, that's probably not a good time to try to hold it still, calm it down, and trim its nails. So what you do when you trim nails, is you want to have the nail trimmers in one hand, I'm left handed so obviously they're going to be in my left hand, and hold the foot and push down and extrude those nails and then you just trim off the hooked edge like that. Don't know if you can see, see if I can show you a better view of how there's a little pink area in that nail bed. That's where the blood supply is so you don't want to ever cut into the pink, so just cut off the little clear hook on the end. It is important to get in to any extra toes and trim those up as well. So once your kitty is a good cooperator, then you can just zip right through nail trimming and it's important that you can also use treats as you go. Sometimes if your kitten is a little bit hungry, before you trim nails, they'll take the treats a little bit more quickly and it will help them to know that nail trimming is not such a bad thing."
