In this series I'm going to talk to you about the ways that you can sharpen your tools. The most common thing that's used is a bench grinder. This one is a high speed and a slow speed grinder. It can run at seventeen hundred fifty RPM's and go up to about three thousand RPM's. It has two wheels. A sixty grit stone and a eighty grit stone and it also has some after-market accessories that have been added. It is this section right here, it's a little wider platform that usually comes with most bench grinders, and this v-arm right here which will hold these grinding aids and the tool will be held inside this. The reason that these are used it gives a wood turner a consistent grind when you're turning. Another thing that is used for sharpening your tools is a slow speed wet grinder. Some people like to use a slow speed wet grinder because it takes off less material when they're turning and the less material you take off the longer your tool's going to last, and it also keeps your tool from overheating.
