"Hello, I'm Dr. Felicia, and I'm here to speak to you about how to arrange vacation time after divorce. Now, very often, each parent wants to take their child with them to the, a vacation, a summer vacation. And sometimes you have conflicting times when you, vacations may fall at the same time. This is very important to work out ahead of time. If you're lucky, you'll do it at the time of the divorce and it becomes part of your divorce papers. What many parents do, is use alternate years. For instance, on odd years, the mother has the child for vacations, and on even years the husband takes the child for vacations. They may do the same thing with Christmas and New Year's vacation, Thanksgiving. One parent may get the odd years and one parent may get the even numbered years. And, that way, it's all pre-set and pre-established, and both parents get to share in the child's welfare. Where you have difficulty is when each parent wants the same time, and that's obviously not going to happen. Ah, hopefully both of you will co-operate with this. If you have it pre-set and pre-planned and adhere to that plan, you'll all have a much happier child in the long run. And, I think that's what we all look for, mostly for the benefit of the child. I wish you luck in your extended families and in your future endeavors, good luck and God bless."
