"So to begin with hand stitching, you're going to need a couple of materials. I have this package of needles which I picked up at a grocery store. You can get these at a grocery store, at a drug store, at home department store, any sort of store like that. I like this because it has all of the types of needles that you might need. They're all labeled for specific uses, but I mix and match. First here, we have standard regular gauge needles. These are for your everyday hand sewing. They're easy to put through fabric of a more loose weave and then you have these thinner gauge needles, and these go through fabrics of a tighter weave. And they're if you want to really get in the fabric and pick certain threads out of the fabric, they're more detail oriented. And then you have this circular mattress needle, but this is really a great tool because it allows you to get in to tight spaces and work with thicker, more unmanageable type fabrics. So this is a good one just to have around. And then you have a needle threader. A lot of people sometimes can't thread the needle. I'm personally not really into these. I just try until I get it. But this is a good tool to help you thread your needle more easily. And then you have coarse thread and a pair of nice scissors that you don't use with paper, you only use with fabric."
