"The question is about becoming a veterinary assistant. Now, there are programs that you go through in school to become a veterinary technician and become certified. However, you can become a veterinary assistant without doing that, but you just have to learn hands-on and to learn at a veterinary practice. And so an assistant would basically be doing things such as, you know, helping obtain samples for heartworm, fecal samples, or urinalysis -- things of that nature. Restraining animals so the veterinarian can examine the animal, or holding for drawing blood -- things of that nature. Also, general kennel care is a very, very big thing when it comes to cleaning up animals and cleaning up cages and things like that when you're a veterinary assistant. And also, getting medications up and helping answer questions that people have -- that pet owners do that -- about their animal or veterinary advice. So there are a lot of things that a veterinary assistant can do, and veterinary assistants can always choose to go through veterinary technician school and become a full, certified technician."
