Hi I'm Dr. Larry Klein. I'm a dentist here in St. Petersburg, Florida. Today we are going to be talking about mouth breathing and its association with dry mouth or xerostomia. A lot of times people have problems breathing at night either due to nasal congestion or other medical pulmonary problems so a lot of times in order to breath they breath through their mouth instead of just their nose so a lot of times this will cause dry mouth. That can be very harmful to the gums and to the oral tissues so a very very simple solution is just a little vaseline before you go to bed. Paint it on your lips, on your gums and a lot of times that will take care of the dry mouth that you have in the morning. Another simple solution, some good old fashioned water before you go to bed, keep the thing, your mouth moist and a lot of times that will cut that down also. So if you have any other questions about dry mouth or any other dental issues, remember Larry Klein here in St. Pete.
