"How to become an insurance salesman. To become an insurance salesman I suggest you either hook up with an insurance company or independent insurance agency or a direct or captive selling insurance company like All State or Progressive , not Progressive, I'm sorry or a Liberty Mutual of the world. And then once you've learned some stuff on the back end of the insurance business, go out and get an insurance license. I do think that it makes sense to work a bit in insurance before you jump in to selling insurance. Having the understanding and experience of working in either an agency or for a company often will help you to succeed in becoming an insurance salesman. But the key to becoming an insurance salesman on the technical side, is by getting a license, and each state has licensing requirements just depending on the type of insurance you wish to sell. But you do have to go out and pass a licensing exam. And once you have your license you can go an sell all the insurance you like. Once you've got the license, I suggest networking, direct mail, cold calling because you really need to see a lot of people in order to be successful as an insurance agent."
