"Hi, I'm Gretchen Soares and welcome to Expert Village. Today we're going to be making soy candles. In this clip we're going to be pouring our second layer. When the soy has sat and it's nice and firm to the touch, you can reach in and touch it and if it's firm you know that you're ready to pour your second layer. If you have a candle that is not firm to the touch and makes spots it's way too soon to pour. What would happen in that case is that the hot soy would go down and it would make bubbles coming up. Which is kind of a cool effect if that's what you're going for, but if you're going for a nice even lines then that's not what we want. This candle would need to wait longer to be ready to pour but this candle is ready to pour. So we'll take the wick positioning stick off of it and be ready to pour our second layer. So we've already determined that this candle is ready to pour a second layer on and we've removed the stick. We're going to push the wick aside. This one's a little thick, but it's still okay. It'll pour nicely for us. When it's thick like this you'll want to just tap it on the counter to even it out. You don't want it all the way to the top because when it melts it will go over the edge. The second layer's ready. We're going to go ahead and put the wick positioner in again and sit is aside to wait again."
