Summary: French ribbon wall clocks; features, what to look for and more in this free video from an antiques expert.
"This is 19th century French ribbon clock it's really interesting clock and I really like it you can find these clocks out there just about anywhere a good auction a good clock auction. One of the things I want to show you is the outside looks like a wood finish but it's really this is a plaster finished on here that's been painted over. And you can see where there's a little damaged here on the outside and looking at the clock when you look around the inside this is all mother of pearls in laid detail on the outside of the clock. I'll open it to show you the inside this is the face of the clock a nice brass detail around the roman numerals and painted dials here with a little bit of floral degree filigree inside that you can hardly make out. Both of the hour chime and the wind for the clock for running the clock on the right side and it has it's signed and on the top and the bottom. You can see the details here with the inlay you can see a little bit of lots of inlay here but overall the clock is in really good condition, this is really a nice example of an early 19th century. And the one thing you have to remember about these clocks especially on the walls they have to be leveled on this way as well as from the wall out, there very temperamental they like to have a very leveled surface to work, so that's something to remember when you put a clock on like this on a wall."
