"The one thing that you have to think about way before the pageant even happens is you want to order your prizes and your awards. That's going to consist of either trophies or plaques. One or the other is probably best for the runners up or the winners. You can also present certificates. I would encourage you to present a certificate to every single contestant that participates. It's called a certificate of participation, so that they all feel that they are recognized for the hard work that they're doing. Also, it's a good idea to give every contestant a gift bag so that they have a souvenir or something to remember their experience in the pageant by. Whenever you are awarding the winner, you need to not forget the tiara or the crown. Make sure you go to a retail store that sells pageant jewelry or crowns, or even a wedding shop or a costume shop usually sells tiaras and crowns. So you can find them at pretty low cost. Some of them are as low as fifteen or twenty dollars for the younger, smaller crowns, for the younger girls. They may get a little bit higher, it just depends on how much money you want to spend, but they are inexpensive. You can even give special prizes, for example, most photogenic, or Miss Congeniality. You can give plaques for this, certificates, there's many creative ways to give out awards like this. Also you can even give scholarships, and if you do give a scholarship, make sure that you mount it on a nice plaque, or present it in a frame, so that ... because it's a very prestigious award. Someone spent a lot of time and a lot of effort making sure that that was going to happen for that contestant."
