"Hello my name is Dr. Susan Jewell and on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to talk to you about ways to live with menopause. Now in this particular clip we're going to talk about the compound Phytoestrogen. What is Phytoestrogen? Well Phytoestrogen is found in plants. It's naturally produced and it's, it's a compound that very similar in chemical nature and structure to the body s hormone estrogen which is made by the ovaries in women. Now when women go through menopause as I mentioned earlier, then their production of estrogen hormone in the body is reduced significantly so they get all the signs and symptoms of menopausal a menopause which is hot flashes and depression, anxiety and all this. So to compensate for that decrease in level estrogen that the body makes you can take Phytoestrogen. Now Tofu which is a plant is a soy product derived from the soy protein also contains a lot of phytoestrogen. So Tofu is ready available as you can see here in the super market and health food stores and usually comes like this in a prepared package. It says Tofu, it's also very good for natural for protein so if you're a vegetarian this is also good for taking protein into the body but Tofu definitely increases this intake into your body for the Phytoestrogen. Now you can also buy like soy milk or a soy milk which I have here in the carton at the national health food stores, grocery stores. That also will have Phytoestrogen in it because it's made from soy plant. So as I said Phytoestrogen is a way that you can combat the menopausal symptoms or hot flashes because it's very similar in its structure to bodies own hormones estrogen."
