"Okay the first piece of equipment on the boat that I want to introduce is PFD. It’s an important safety device and should be worn by sailors all the time, it’s the best idea. What they say is this is a piece of equipment that doesn’t work if you’re not wearing it, many sailors in very light air, when it’s warm and when the water is warm will choose not to wear it, new sailors it’s a good idea to start wearing it until you feel very comfortable with what you’re doing. Do you want to demonstrate how you put it on? Yeah. This is a type 3 PFD, we simply put it on and it wears just like a vest so once you’ve had it on, you often forget that you are wearing it. you’ve got a couple of snaps here, what we like about the type 3 vest is that it doesn’t interfere with any mobility and allows the sailor to do their functions, sailing the boat without any hinders. The thing that we feel about your PFD, you never know when you’re really-really going to need it, in other words, nobody has a plan to fall off a boat or end up in the water. and because of that you may possibly find yourself in the water and if you don’t have your life jacket on it’s a difficult situation. We wear our life jackets and sail many times and never need them, it’s kind of like the seat belt in your car, if it’s something that you don’t plan on using, but boy if you ever need it you’re glad you have it.
