Hi. I'm Tres Tew. I'm an instructor at Yeshua's Ryu Martial Arts and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to be talking to you a little bit about open hand combat. Now we are going to show you how to defend yourself against a punch using joint locks. Most of these are taken from Jujitsu. So, here we go. Again, your attacker throws a jab. You open up a push, pair and press. This initial grab is what opens up all of these techniques. What we are going to do is strike here; a loosening up technique. You're probably not going to be able to just do these techniques without loosening someone up, because their arms are just going to be very stiff. It's going to be hard to work with them. So, you just strike across the face or something. Get them loosened up a little bit and get them distracted from what you are doing with their arm. They are worried about the pain in their face. So you take it here, to an arm bar here, and then you are going to take it to an outboard wrist lock right here. Then, once you've got this right here, you are going to wrap your pointer finger and your thumb around their thumb. Then smack here and pull up. This is what you call a party flex. You just tighten it in. You can see the little reaction I'm causing. All that is, is just a little wrist twist. I'm just doing that right there. If you do that correctly, that will really hurt someone. So, again, we've got there to there, here. You can take it to a shoulder crank; from there to a head lock, or whatever you want to do. Just know that all that stuff is there. Then you can just take and back out of it, to here and back to the shoulder crank; whatever you need to do. Just know that all. If you've had training in Jujitsu, that's there. It all starts with the push, pair and press. That's how to defend yourself against a punch with joint locks.
