"We’re going to show you some clips of mushroom. The mushroom is used in combination with the pommel horse to learn circles. So when you start on the mushroom, both hands equally. It doesn’t matter whether you travel that way or that way. The idea is to shift your weight from one hand to the other as you go around. Your hands don’t lift this high. They only go as high as they have to to clear your legs. You keep your center of gravity over the x as you go around. So I start off to one side and circle. On the pommel horse, I explained that you don’t want to be all turtle shelled in your shoulders. You want to push, extend, lift your head and chin out of your shoulders. Keep pressing as you do the circles or as do the front of back support or scissors on the pommel horse. Any of those things you’re always pushing down, never sinking into your shoulders."
