"In this clip, we're going to talk about the proper service procedure in order to remove and replace a broken CV joint also known as a drive shaft on a front-wheel drive vehicle. In this step, I'm going to show you the proper service procedure for prying your lower control arm down and removing the ball joint stud from the lower portion of the spindle. What you're going to do, I like to use my pickle fork, just slide it into a section of pipe. I'm using my jack handle right now. I'm going to slide it under the tie rod end and over the sway bar link just like so. From there, I'm going to take and apply downward pressure and wiggle my spindle and get it to pop off. Now you're going to have to step on it and use both hands for the wiggling. Step on it down like that and then slid it off this stud. Once you have it off the stud, you can take and remove your pickle fork and pipe and as you can see, the ball joint stud has come out of the lower portion of the spindle. This is the proper way to pry down on your control arm to release the tension and remove the stud from the spindle."
