In this clip we're going to talk about the proper way to change your oil in your rear differential. In this step we're going to talk about the proper service procedure for prepping our fill plug in the actual installation of it. What you're going to want to do is use some RTV, some room temperature vulcanite, and apply it around the threads of your fill plug. What that will do is prevent the threads rusting together between the fill plug and the case. I'm going to take my RTV and just go all the way around it. Once you get all the way around it, put my cap on here, once you're all the way around it you're take your finger and push it into the threads. Just like so, that's what you're looking for. I'm going to take my three eighths extension and stick it, stick my plug right on there right now. That will give me a little reach so I can line it up in the differential and start it. Alright as you can see I have my fill plug stuck right on my extension, I'm going to reach up between the gas tank and the drive shaft and install it into the differential case. I'm going to spin it all the way down hand tight and then torque it with my ratchet. Alright, it's your typical lefty loosy righty tighty. You're going to want to take it down just about a half a turn past hand tight. If you over tighten it, it will make it difficult to remove when you need to service it again in the future. Alright, there we go and that is the proper way to prep your fill plug and install it into the differential.
