"Hi, my name is Nate McCullough on behalf of Expert Village. In these clips we are going to talk about some of the possible problems with your windshield washer system and some hints and tips to get better performance out of it. In this clip we are going to talk about two different types of windshield washer solvent. If you live in the northern states, I am here in Michigan, it gets quite cold. This is the winter version of washer solvent. I recommend using it anytime from say November till about March. You notice it is a different color from the standard blue and it is rated for negative 34 degrees. Right now it is about 5 degrees outside in Michigan. This is the summer version, it is a lot cheaper and is about 89 cents a gallon. But as you can see it is only rated for 5 degrees and it is approximately 5 degrees outside right now. Rock hard. This will actually freeze up and crack your washer solvent reservoir. It may even push the solvent pump out of the bottom of your reservoir. If if is liquid enough that you can actually spray it on your windshield, it is going to freeze instantly and cause dangerous driving condition. These are the two solvents you've got and like I said from about November till early March, you are going to want to go with the yellow stuff. "
