" Hi! My name is Brandon. I'm with expertvillage.com, and today I”m going to show you how to rock climb. In order to climb, you must climb in pairs. One person's going to be the climber, and the other is called the belayer. The belayer holds the rope while the climber goes up and makes certain they don't fall. To differentiate between the climbing rope and belayer rope, approach the wall, look up, and grab the rope furthest away from the wall. To hook up to belay, first you need a carabiner and the belay device. To open the carabiner, you turn the gate and open up toward itself. To lock the carabiner, simply let go. It'll automatically snap shut and lock. To put the rope into the belay device, I'm going to place it down through the top and match the rope up with the ring on the belay device. Next step is to open the carabiner up. I'm going to place the carabiner through the ring and rope on the belay device, and then clip the carabiner through my belay loop. Final step, I'm going to grab the floor anchor on the ground. I'm going to match the loop on the floor anchor up with the belay loop on my harness. I'm going to open my carabiner next, place the floor anchor in, lock my carabiner, and then rotate it so that the floor anchor is on the bottom point of the carabiner, the belay device and the rope are on the top, my harness is going to float around the spine. I'm not hooked up to belay. "
