on 8/2/2008 Be careful of the Eight-Count-Body-Builder. It can ruin your knees. The U.S. Navy has banned them from their exercise regimens. It's the leg spreader that does the damage, counts five and six. If you want to do any of this sort of exercise, eliminate the leg spreader. A six-count Squat Thrust: a squat thrust with a push-up added, would do the trick. Everything else Mr. Davila has demonstrated, is right on.

Video Transcript

" Hello my name is Adam Davila. The name of my business is Crossfit Austin. My website is http://www.crossfitaustin.com. The next exercise I will demonstrate is the eight count body build. The eight count body build is a really great exercise for developing the upper body muscles, the chest, shoulders, triceps, really great for the lower body muscles and really great for the cardiovascular and respiratory system. When you’re doing the eight count body builder it’s essentially a squat thrust with a push up, spread your legs, bring your legs back together and come back up. "
