Tips & Warnings:

  • Most system icons are located in "C:\WINDOWS\System32\shell32.dll" folder on most windows systems.
  • Make sure you remember where the difault icon is saved incase you would like to change back.
Step1
First go to any window that you want and click "Tools" and then go down a click on "Folder Options".
Step2
Once that has loaded click on the tab at the top that says "File Types". Scroll down and choose the filetype you want to choose from the list.
Step3
When you have choosen the filetype go down to the bottom of the window and choose advanced. On there click the button that says "Change Icon" and choose any icon you want by browsing through you files and folders.
Step4
Click OK and confirm all changes, you will now notice that all of the files in that filetype have the different icon that you have chosen.
