Step 1
Mix: 4 tablespoons flour
1 tablespoon dry mustard -
Step 2
Add enough water to form a thick paste, not too watery. If you add too much water, just add a little more flour to dry it up.
-
Step 3
Put this paste in a cloth and wrap it up.
-
Step 4
Apply the plaster where desired and leave in place no longer than 10-15 minutes

on 10/16/2009 Many years ago there was a product on the market known as Musterole. When we kids got chest colds, it was applied directly on the chest (skin), had the consistency of Vicks VapoRub, and was then covered with a thich cotton cloth. Boy, did it work! I now have a nasty chest cold that my doc can't cure even with tons of inhalers, antibiotics, nebulizers, steroids, even had all kinds of xrays and nobody can figure it out. I remembered how well Musterole and finally looked it up, will use it tonight because I know it works! Musterole was probably pulled off the market because it burned someone's skin - I'm not surprised. Be careful with that mustard.

on 5/21/2009 The correct recipe is: 3 tblsp flour; 2 tblsp mustard; one egg white; mix thoroughly

on 12/25/2008 You can also use mustard seed and grind it in a coffee grinder just before you use it - more potent than pre-ground mustard, which has lost a lot of its potency from months of storage.
As the writer states, you don't want the mixture to touch your skin, that's why you use a towel or an old T-shirt (use something cotton, not synthetic.)

on 12/25/2008 One word: TRIPOD!
This would be a better video if your arm was not blocking half of it, or if the camera wasn't wandering around while you tried to mix with one hand and hold the camera with the other. You can find a cheap tripod at a thrift store ...
Good instructions though.
