Hi, my name is Christina Gavenda, and today we're going to sew a ribbon belt. Knowing how to sew your own ribbon belt now only saves you money but it also means that you can make the perfect accessory for your wardrobe. For this project we're going to use two D rings, a pair of scissors, ribbon, a heat source to seal our ribbon, a sewing machine and straight pins. The first step is to figure out how long you need your ribbon to be. To do this, wrap it around where you want the butt to sit. This is going to help you to know exactly where to cut and then add a few inches on, that way you have some wiggle room. It's better for it to be too long than too short. Next, using our heat source we're going to seal both ends of ribbon. This will help keep it from fraying. Taking both D rings, going to slide them through the ribbon making sure that your seam is on the underside of the ribbon. If you have double sided ribbon then it's not a big deal. Take our pins and pin the ribbon. This will keep your ribbon from slipping as you sew it. When sewing a garment, you always want to sew top up so that you can see how the stitch looks. Keeping your tension fairly right and remembering to back stitch, we're going to start sewing. Next we're going to clip our thread. Now your belt is finished. The perfect belt can really set off your look. This is a great way to make your own. Thanks for watching.
