Hello, I'm Jeffrey Ingalls; President of Stratford Financial Group and Stratford Employer Services in Wayne, New Jersey. And right now, we're going to talk about the requirements to get on a group health insurance plan. Group health insurance refers to an employer sponsored health insurance plan in a given company or organization. The carrier and plan designs offered are often selected by the employer. The requirements to get on a group health insurance plan are defined by the carrier and the contract governing the group insurance program. Typically, employees and their dependents are eligible to enroll provided the employee meets the definition of full time. Certain plans may also cover part time employees, but more often than not, employees must meet the definition of full time to be eligible. Full time can be denoted as any time frame, typically ranging from 20 hours per week to 40 hours per week. Employees must also enroll as a timely enrollee. Meaning that he or she would enroll immediately upon becoming eligible for the plan or immediately following the new employee waiting period setup by the plan administration. Another time frame to allow an employee or their dependents to enroll on a group health insurance program would be immediately following a qualifying event such as loss of coverage or the birth of a newborn child. My name is Jeffrey Ingalls. I'm the President of Stratford Financial Group and Stratford Employer Services in Wayne, New Jersey. We can be found online at www.stratfordlink.com and you just watched requirements to get on a group health insurance plan. Thank you.
