Hey everybody, this is chef Mareya, the Fit Foody, and you're watching the eHow.com video series on how to eat cleaner. And today I'm going to show you how easy it is to clean tilapia. Now tilapia is a really nice, light, white fleshed fish, but before you cook it you want to make sure that it's cleaned properly. And I'm going to show you a couple of really simple food safety tips. Now first, when you prep fish or any food for that matter, you want to make sure you start with a really clean surface. I've washed my hands, sang the happy birthday song twice, which is what you should all be doing too, and then I'm cleaning my cutting board with the eat cleaner, all natural biodegradable wipes. This is a food grade cleaner. So anything that comes into contact with it, including your fish, will be safe. So I start by cleaning that, and then I'm going to take my fish fillets here, and I'm just going to set them on the cutting board and I'm going to do two at a time, and I've got my eat cleaner seafood and poultry wash. This is specifically designed to help address the contaminants on your fish that maybe water can't. Most people don't realize a lot of our food comes from all over the world, so you just don't know how many hands have actually touched it. I'm going to spray the surface with my tilapia. Just give it a flip here and spray the other side. And that's it. It's as simple as that. I'll transfer that to the plate and keep going. And you can even see the difference here in the tilapia that's unclean versus washed. Look at how much brighter and cleaner that looks. And you can also see just by pulling the plate off all of that liquid that's kind of come off the fish you want to get rid of that because clean fish will taste better. And it will smell better, which at the end of the day, we don't want our fish to actually smell fishy. So that's how easy it is to clean your tilapia. I'm the Fit Foody. Here's to a great say and eating cleaner everyday.
