Hi, I'm Billy Beck III from Billy Beck III Personal Training Center in Weston South Florida. In this video, I'm going to teach you how to build pecs on a skinny guy. Now whether you're skinny or big the rules apply to everyone. You don't want to do the same movements that everyone's always doing at the gym and that's like the pec deck or cable crossovers. Those type of movements, well they're good for certain goals. If your goal is to build muscle, you've got to lift a little heavier and you've got to challenge it with compound movements. You can do bench presses, incline presses, parallel dips. In this video I'm going to show you how to do dumbbell presses. These are probably the most effective if you're going to guess for everyone, if you have any type of limitations in your shoulders and stuff, this is a great place to start. So let me just show you. We're going to start with an incline and then I'll explain the differences in the angles. So what you're going to do is you're going to lay back, you're going to get your hands wide and as you press up, your hands will come together and you're squeezing the chest as you're pressing. A lot of people just throw weights around like this, a lot of momentum, a lot of force going through the shoulder joint, greater risk, less benefit. So you tighten up, engage, lower slow control, power it up but under control the whole time. You want to come to fatigue which means challenge your muscle. It should not be easy, challenge creates change within a rep range of 6 to 12 and if you can do more than 12, increase the weight. But it's got to be a challenge, your rest periods anywhere between 60 and 120 seconds. Now I've got an incline bench which is going to emphasize more of the upper chest, still going to work your upper and lower chest and everything in between but as you go to a flat you emphasize more in the middle, as you go to a decline, you emphasize more of the lower. But you still work all the muscles so don't think you've got to do them all in one workout. Challenge the muscle. I'm Billy Beck III, and this has been how to build pecs on a skinny guy.
