Available Disk Space
Before you can install AT&T DSL on your computer, you need to have a certain amount of disk space or hard drive space available. If your computer's operating system is Windows 7 or Windows Vista, it must have at least 125MB of available hard drive space. If your computer runs Windows XP, it must have at least 100MB of available disk space. You can check the available disk space by accessing "My Computer."
Memory (RAM)

You can determine how fast your computer's processor is by clicking the "System" icon in the Control Panel.
Network Interface
You must have an Ethernet port available on your computer. This is needed so you can hook up your computer to the DSL modem and connect to the Internet. An Ethernet port looks like a phone jack, but is larger, according to AT&T. If you aren't sure whether your computer has an Ethernet port, hold up the end of a telephone cord to the port. You should be able to determine whether the port is too large for your phone cord to fit.
