Chipboard Book Ideas
Chipboard books are available in almost any size and shape and offer scrapbookers and crafters an alternative to traditional scrapbooks for their memory projects. Generally sold in craft and hobby stores in the scrapbooking section, chipboard books are usually light brown cardboard but can also be white, black or printed with colorful designs. They are customizable using paper, paint, ink or other items and can be used for a variety of projects.

Holiday Books
-
Use a chipboard book to commemorate some of your holiday traditions. For example, at Christmas time, take photos of your holiday traditions, such as cutting down the tree, a special dessert that you enjoy during the holidays or the kids' holiday pajamas. Decorate the pages in the book with the photos as well as holiday-themed papers, embellishments and a story about each tradition. Another holiday option is to highlight your special holiday decorations. If you collect a particular style of holiday ornaments, for example, photograph each one for the book and include a label about when and how you acquired each one. Don't limit your chipboard memory books to the winter holidays; create a book of Halloween costumes over the years or Easter or Thanksgiving traditions.
Blessings or Inspiration Book
-
Design a chipboard book to highlight the blessings in your life or the things for which you're grateful. The book can include photographs or mementos, found objects or other representations of your feelings. Include quotations that sum up your feelings or write about what you're grateful for and why. Another option is to turn the chipboard book into a collection of inspirational quotes and messages. Fill the pages with words and images that inspire you, either in general or in relation to a specific topic.

Shaped Books
-
Several scrapbook supply manufacturers offer shaped chipboard books or books in which the pages spell out a word, such as "Princess," "Love" or "Friend." Use these shaped books to create themed albums; for example, a book that spells out "Beach" could serve as the backdrop for a memory book about a tropical vacation or a collection of photos and memorabilia from your summer activities. Use a heart-shaped chipboard book to make a mini-album of wedding pictures or a cupcake-shaped book for birthday party memories.
Advice Book
-
A chipboard book can serve as both a guest book and ready-made scrapbook at a party. Before the party, design the pages using paper and embellishments, leaving space for guests to write messages to the guest of honor. For example, for a recent high school grad, create a chipboard book in which guests can write their advice about college and life. Or ask guests to offer parenting or marriage advice in a book for a baby or wedding shower. If practical, take digital photos of the writers and add them into the book later on for a thoughtful keepsake.
