Can I Burn YouTube Videos to DVD?

With a DVD burner and a small download, you can take sharing to another level, by burning YouTube videos to DVD to play in any DVD player. Then you can share Piano Cat and Ask a Ninja with everyone.

  1. YouTube Downloader

    • First you'll have to be equipped to download videos from YouTube, but -- lucky for you -- a program is designed just for this purpose. Enter YouTube Downloader (youtubedownload.altervista.org/download.htm). This tiny program is free and absolutely necessary for grabbing videos from YouTube. It can be set to integrate into your browser and lets you right-click on a video from YouTube to save it in a variety of formats, or you can run it as a stand-alone application. You can choose to install the YouTube Downloader toolbar to make saving videos quicker.

    Grab Videos

    • Open your YouTube downloader and load your YouTube favorites in a new web browser window. Copy the URL of the video from YouTube and paste it into the downloader, then click to save the file locally. If you installed the toolbar, you will be able to just download videos with one click from your browser. Repeat this process with every video you want to burn to DVD. It's best to keep all your downloads in one folder and to save them as one format, including AVI. You can save in any format you like, except FLV (Flash video), as every other video format in YouTube Downloader will work to burn a DVD.

    Compile DVD

    • Windows Vista and Windows 7 have a built-in program for creating DVD video called Windows DVD Maker. The program is straight-forward, easy to use and -- best of all -- free. It's integrated into Windows and automatically handles DVDs. When in insert a blank DVD disc into your burner, a window will appear asking what do with the media. Click "Burn a video DVD using Windows DVD Maker" to launch the program and get burning those YouTube videos.

    Using Windows DVD Maker

    • Click "Choose Photos and Videos" to begin compiling a list of files to burn to a DVD in Windows DVD Maker. Then click "Add items" and browse to the folder where you saved all of your YouTube videos. Select the files you wish to burn to DVD and click "Add files." You can use the program to arrange the files on the disc, create and edit titles for each video, and set up a complete DVD menu. Play around and change the text, and then when you are ready, click "Burn DVD Video" and follow the prompts to turn your YouTube clips into a playable DVD.
