New Dads

Dads who are new in the game will always appreciate things that remind them of their children. A framed picture for his office, a "World's Greatest Dad" coffee mug or a custom calendar with pictures of the kids would all make a treasured holiday gift. If the children are old enough, creations made with their own hands will be most appreciated. If Dad doesn't get to spend enough one-on-one time with his kids, give him a father-child weekend, tickets to a sporting event together, or something else that will allow him some quality family time.
Busy Dads
-
Dads on the go can always use gifts that help them manage their time or offer added convenience. Consider books on DVD that he can listen to while driving, or a subscription to satellite radio. Electronic gadgets are always a hit, but check his inventory to avoid duplicates. If he has one of everything already, look for accessories to enhance them. He will love tickets to a professional sporting event, especially if it includes a road trip. Gift certificates to his favorite restaurant or clothing store make a practical gift that he can redeem at his leisure. Busy dads might also appreciate a massage or a pedicure so he can take some time for himself and relax.

Single Dads
-
Many dads are raising children on their own and will appreciate Christmas gifts that address their situation. Create a handmade gift certificate for babysitting services you can provide and that will give him a much-needed break. If finances are tight, think about purchasing items the children may need such as diapers, formula or clothing. Consider books on parenting, discipline, dealing with illness or difficult children, or any other subjects that may be unique to his situation. Treat the single dad to something special for him such as a new, trendy item of clothing, a manicure or facial, a car detailing or his favorite homemade meal.
Senior Dads

New equipment will please an avid fisherman. If Dad is retired, give gifts that enhance hobbies in which he participates. If he is active and still enjoys sports, consider golf balls or fishing equipment. If he prefers the arts, consider tickets to a play or concert. If he has taken up cooking, cookbooks or specialty cookware will fit the bill. If Dad's activity level is low due to health or mobility issues, take him to a sporting event or out to dinner. Your time spent with him will be your most precious gift. If he is infirm, consider gifts that will enhance his quality of life such as magnifiers to help him see, remote controls for lights and appliances, large print books or a gift basket filled with his favorite snacks.
