How to Put Longer Posts Onto Facebook

When you post a status update on Facebook, the site limits your post to 420 characters; this includes every letter, space and punctuation mark included in your status. If you want to say more than you can fit into a status update, you can post a note instead; notes aren't limited to a certain number of characters. Notes are displayed on your wall and on the news feed with the title and an excerpt; friends can click on the note to view the full text.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to Facebook and sign in to your account.

    • 2

Click "Profile" and select "Notes" from the column beneath your profile photo. Click "Write a Note" in the upper right corner of the page.

    • 3

Enter a title and compose your note. Tag friends or Facebook pages in the Tags box and select your desired level of privacy from the drop-down menu. Click "Add a Photo" to upload an image, if desired.

    • 4

Click "Publish" to publish your note. It immediately appears on your wall and in the news feed.
